Lightning Crashes Lyrics

“Lightning Crashes” explores the profound and unsettling nature of life’s transitions – birth and death – interwoven with a sense of cosmic inevitability. The song depicts two stark contrasts: a new mother’s joyous, yet vulnerable arrival into the world alongside an old woman's final moments, both symbolized by the imagery of “lightning crashes” and falling elements like placentas and intentions. The recurring motif of "the angel" represents a shift in consciousness, opening and closing eyes reflecting acceptance and confusion as life and death converge. Live’s message is one of overwhelming force – “forces pullin' from the center of the earth again” – suggesting an uncontrollable power shaping human experience. The song evokes intense emotions of grief, awe, and disorientation, ultimately presenting a meditation on mortality and the cyclical beauty within chaos, capturing a feeling of both profound loss and the persistent pulse of existence.
