If You Ever Lyrics

“If You Ever” is a passionate and somewhat unsettling declaration of devotion from East 17, exploring the intoxicating rush of new love mixed with possessive anxieties. The lyrics initially paint a picture of instant attraction – captivated by her brown eyes and physical beauty – quickly evolving into a desire for a deep, lasting connection. He desperately wants to be her “one and only,” promising unwavering support and a role as her sole need, fueled by both adoration and a creeping insecurity about his worthiness. The song’s raw emotion is underscored by suggestive imagery – comparing her to a feline queen and referencing intimate physical desires - creating a somewhat uncomfortable blend of romantic yearning and controlling behavior. Ultimately, the artist conveys a plea for commitment, laced with vulnerability and a slightly desperate need to hold onto this precious love he fears losing.
