Believe Lyrics

“Believe” is a passionate plea for the enduring power of love amidst a world consumed by conflict and despair. Elton John’s message centers on love as the ultimate truth, a defiant force against everything that threatens to destroy it – war, disease, political corruption, and prejudice. The lyrics paint a stark picture of humanity's failings, highlighting how hatred and division lead to violence and suffering, yet simultaneously emphasizing that love transcends all boundaries and offers genuine connection. The repeated assertion “I believe in love, it’s all we got” underscores this conviction as the core foundation for meaning and faith. Ultimately, the song suggests that without love, everything else crumbles, rendering life meaningless and devoid of hope – a powerful testament to its vital importance within the human experience.
